#DORADREAMDESTINATION: Siquijor

Siquijor is one of our resident DORA’S #DORADREAMDESTINATION and we’re happy she got it ticked off her travel bucketlist. As expected, the island is calm and quiet. A lot of tourists visit this place for a peaceful getaway.

The island can be accessed via ferry coming from more industrialized islands such as Dumaguete – which is a popular point of entry. From the port, tourist guards can help you in securing your mode of transportation. Whether it is via motorcycle, tricycle or multicab. Either way it’s easy to get around as the whole of Siquijor can almost be toured in just a day.

A popular destination is the Cambugahay Falls which has three levels. At the highest level, you can enjoy swimming in the basin. Getting a bit of back massage from the water drops is a plus. Then on the lowest tier is where the popular Tarzan rope is. Tourists crowd in this area for the unique experience. It’s great for thrill seekers to spice up your trip! Then there’s a Salagdoong Beach which is a bit commercialized. The site is popular for cliff diving.

We enjoyed unspoiled beaches better such as Paliton Beach. It was like we were transported to a quiet version of Boracay because of the white sand and clear blue water. Spending time with your friends here is perfect! We tried snorkeling in it and there are a few interesting marine life present. Meanwhile, Kagusuan beach has that castaway vibe. The rock formations, coral filled shore and moderate waves making it different from the other beaches in Siquijor.

In addition, we saw a 200 year old house that stood the test of time. Besides the age, several typhoons and the blazing sun could have completely deteriorated it. Yet it’s still there catching tourists’ attention. After a long day, you could use a free fish spa by the balete tree as well.

Siquijor is peaceful province with mystical secrets. But no need to worry, these are just folklores that has been passed down thru generations. Just take extra precautions and consideration. Other than that, it has been lovely vacationing there. It’s great for those who need relaxation – peace and quiet.
