Xiqiao National Arts Studio : Throwback Time
Travel back in time during the post-war of southern China by visiting the Xiqiao National Arts Studio located in Foshan City, just west of Guangzhou.
The 500,000 square meters studio aspires to reach the success of its Western counterpart - Hollywood’s Universal Studios. The studio also features hotels, recreational areas and film lots that double as shooting location and tourist spot. During my visit, most of the areas were still under construction including the replica of the Forbidden City. Nevertheless its recreation of the 1950s-1960s Hong Kong scene amazed me with its realistic and detailed reproduction of that era. From the store signs to the building designs, everything completely and impeccably resembled the 50s and 60s south China landscape.
As an art and film lover, this place felt like heaven translated to Chinese. But not to worry, because even if you don't understand it, you will still appreciate the art of it. With this nostalgic place, you can imagine yourself living in post-war China?
